In the early 1980s, South Dakota farmer Kevin Anderson faced the same challenge every planting season: how to place seed and fertilizer in one pass without sacrificing placement accuracy or risking seed burn.

The openers available at the time forced a compromise — either accept the risk of seed burn from fertilizer placed too close to seed, or make multiple passes and accept the added time and cost. Kevin believed there was a better way.

In 1984, Kevin patented a new opener design that separated seed from fertilizer while maintaining precise depth control and seed-to-soil contact. It wasn't designed in a lab. It was designed in the field, by a farmer who needed it to work.

The core principle — place fertilizer deep and away from seed, then place seed on a firm seedbed above it — became the foundation of every Anderson opener that followed.

Today, Kory Anderson carries that legacy forward through Anderson Industries, continuing to engineer practical solutions for the challenges real farmers face. The product line has grown to include the RE-Razor, AE-Series, AE-SS, and the Disc Leveler — each built on the same principle Kevin established in 1984.
